Study rooms are available for individuals and small groups at all library locations.
Rooms may be zoned for age-appropriate use.

Pre-Reservation Study Room FAQ

How far in advance can I make my study room reservation?

Customers with valid APLD library cards can reserve sessions up to 48 hours in advance. Customers without a library card must reserve sessions on a walk-in basis.

How long is my study room reservation for?

Study rooms can be reserved for up to two hours.

Am I allowed to extend my session?

Library staff can extend study room sessions as availability allows. Please ask library staff when you are making your reservation if you need an extended session.

What happens if I can’t make it to my study room reservation?

Study rooms reservations are kept for 20 minutes past the listed time before being marked as a no-show. If you are running late or need to cancel the reservation entirely, please call us at 630-264-4117 to update your reservation.

How many sessions can I have in a day?

Each group may reserve one study room session per day.

Are there outlets available?

Yes, standard wall outlets are available in all study rooms.

Is there Wi-Fi in all the rooms?

Yes, wi-fi is available in all study rooms.

Is there a whiteboard I can request with my study room reservation?

Study room 212 at Santori, and study rooms B and C at Eola, have whiteboards available.

Can I print from a study room?

Yes, you can print wirelessly from your laptop or mobile device. Instructions can be found at the computer lab desk.

Can I bring guests with me?

Yes, guests are welcome, so long as the total number of occupants in the room does not exceed its listed capacity.

What if rooms are unavailable?

If no rooms are available, a reservation can be made for a later time or customers can use tables in the main library space. 

Are the rooms soundproof?

Study rooms are not soundproof. Please be respectful of others and refrain from shouting or playing loud audio in the study rooms.

Can I view the room ahead of time?

Click on the name of the study room on the “Reserve a room” page to view a picture of the room.

Reserving a study room online: 

  1. Click on the button below to start your study room reservation 
  2. Select the date of your reservation on the left hand side  
  3. On the left hand side, filter by the branch where you'd like to book your study room 
  4. Click the room you'd like to reserve (please note, the room should indicate "study room" in its title) 
  5. Select the time you'd like to reserve the room by clicking on the desired start time and clicking on your desired end time.  
    • The room is available at the times indicated with the green boxes. Boxes in gray indicate the room is unavailable. Under the boxes you will find a scrolling option (line with a circle) to see more times. Click on the circle to drag and see more times.  
    • Please note, you will need to have all the information available and verify it is correct as the system does not allow to go back at any of the following steps. 
  6. Once your time has been selected, scroll down until you see the
     "Reserve Now" and "Add to Basket" option.  
    • Add to Basket = for multiple room reservations. Repeat steps 3-7 for the rooms/times you'd like to reserve. Once you are ready to check out, scroll to the top where you will find your Room Basket. Select "Reserve" 
    • Reserve Now = for single room reservations  
  7. Enter your library card number and personal pin/password (4 digit number linked with your library card).  
  8. Confirm your personal information, complete the required questions and agree to terms & conditions. Click "Next". 
  9. Confirm your details and click "Reserve".
