About Our Outreach Services

Senior Living Facility Services

Outreach Services staff bring books, DVDs, audio books, and other library items to senior living facilities with two different monthly services:

  • Deposit Collection: Each month, a delivery is made which includes 40 large print books, 5 audio books, and 5 DVDs. Activities directors decide where to display the items so all residents have access to library materials.  Items are checked out to the facility’s library account.
  • Lobby Stop Service:  Staff visit senior living communities for one hour, providing large print books, DVDs, audio books, magazines, and more for residents to conveniently browse for library material without leaving the facility.  Residents can register for a new library account on site, request specific items, retrieve holds, and check out materials. Items are checked out to an individual’s library account.

Traveling Storytime Service

Conducted at area preschools, daycares, and by special request, monthly storytimes include interactive stories, songs, finger plays, puppets and various movement activities for young children. During the summer months, Stories in the Parks is offered on the Bookmobile, in addition to Stories at the Zoo at Phillips Park Zoo. Please contact us for more information.

Home Delivery

Did you know the Aurora Public Library District offers free home delivery? This service upon request is open to all Aurora residents regardless of circumstance, with priority given to cardholders experiencing any of the following:
• Temporary or permanent disability
• Health conditions that limit mobility
• Lack of transportation
• Caregiving responsibilities that limit the ability to visit library branches

Here's how it works:
1. Sign up for ongoing home deliveries by calling 630-723-2705 or completing the form below.
2. Request library items by phone or by placing holds via the library website, selecting “Bookmobile” as the pick-up location.
3. Please allow 1-3 weeks for us to work on your requests. Need your items sooner? Curbside holds pick-up service is available at our branch locations, as well as a convenient drive-up window at Santori Library.
4. A staff member will call to schedule the delivery date and time (dependent on driver availability).
Deliveries are no-contact, so items will be checked out, bagged, and left at your front door or building lobby. As certain 3D items and borrowed tech devices cannot be left outside, a handoff to the customer, family or caregiver at the provided address will need to be arranged, still subject to driver availability.
5. Return your items at any library location.

Home Delivery Request
While deliveries are open to all APLD card holders, priority is given to those who meet the above criteria.
