Fourth Annual Young Authors Short Story Contest

The writing contest is open to students in grades 3–8 who live within APLD's service area. Entries must be original, unpublished stories written in English or Spanish that feature the theme of A Magical Beast. Stories should be under 1,500 words, appropriate for all ages, and either typed or written clearly, with the title and page number included on each page. Each participant may submit only one story, and submissions must be accompanied by an entry form (see below).

Submit your entry in person (non-returnable) at any APLD Children’s Desk or via email to: childrensantori@aurorapubliclibrary.org with the subject line “Short Story Contest.”

All entries are due by November 30, 2025.

Winners will receive a bag of fun prizes and have their story published on our website!
