January 8, 2025: All study rooms will be unavailable for public reservations.
Through public input sessions, community engagement, and daily interactions at the library, we know that you need more study and meeting rooms, increased availability of quiet workspaces, better programming, teen, and play spaces, and an opportunity to connect as a community at a library that is responsive to your needs. This renovation will enable us to improve your library experience by honoring how you use the library as individuals, groups, and families.
As of October 1, 2024, we are expecting that there will be an increase of approximately 9,000 SF.
In October 2024, the library board approved Lo Destro Construction as the general contractor for the project. Since then, Lo Destro has been hiring subcontractors to do all of the specialized work that will go into the renovation – hanging drywall, installing lighting, laying carpet, etc. In the meantime, the library, our architects at Studio GC, and Lo Destro have been finalizing important details of the contract, while also working on securing the necessary permits for construction. Once started it will take approximately 18 months to complete.
The library will issue a bond and the rest will come from reserves.
No! There will be no impact on taxes.
