The privacy and security of your personal information is important to us. Information in your library account is confidential and protected as described in the library’s Confidentiality Policy. 
 

Information Collection and Use

The Aurora Public Library District is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others unless required to do so by a court order. The library collects no personal information from website visitors, but we do use Google Analytics to track general use.
When you apply for a library card this is the information we collect and how it's used: 

  • Your information may be shared with a contracted third party to assist in retrieval of library items and to verify your personal identity to open a library account for you.  
  • We’ll use the email address you give us to send your library card number and PIN for the account. 
  • We'll use the information we collect from you to verify your eligibility for a library card, to communicate with you about items you have borrowed or requested, and to inform you about library services and programs.
  • The library maintains computer usage logs for a brief and limited period of time.  Information about computer usage and the material you check out is protected by the Illinois Library Records Confidentiality Act. 


The library collects demographic data on an optional basis to hold ourselves accountable in the service we provide the community. The library does not use personally identifiable information provided to us online except in the aggregate, in order to design services that are responsive to community need.

We have no control over the nature, content, privacy practices, and availability of those sites. The inclusion of any links does not necessarily imply a recommendation or endorse of them or the views expressed within them.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will publicize those changes so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
