Learn about TTRPGs as a Therapeutic Treatment: Social skill building, emotional connection, anxiety relief, and trauma healing are a few of many common issues that make people seek therapy. As we expand our idea of what therapy is, more research continues to show that non-traditional approaches can help people heal, change, and grow just like the methods that got therapy started in the first place. TTRPGs allow people to connect in a way that transcends "just a game," and licensed counselor Sammi Dyson is excited to show you how!
Sammi Dyson is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Wisconsin, and works with teens and adults in individual therapy. Sammi works with a wide variety of mental health issues and life challenges, but specializes in working on anxiety, healthy communication, depression, trauma, and the intersection of LGBTQ+ identity with mental health. In search of a way to merge her love of D&D with her love of mental health counseling, she has pursued research and courses on utilizing role playing games to work on mental health goals. Therapy is never one-size-fits-all, so it is important to have as many tools in the toolbox as possible!
