Exhibits

The Aurora Public Library District is proud to host diverse exhibits at no charge to our community. Exhibits can be viewed during open hours at library location(s) as described below.

Historic Photo Collection

Santori Library, Atrium, Eola Road Branch, Lobby, virtual via our exhibit website
Monday, May 1 - Friday, May 31

The Local History Collection at APLD is a rich source of community history and includes historic newspapers on microfilm, city directories, yearbooks, archival collections, reference books, and of course, photographs! Our historic photograph collection is now freely available online through Illinois Digital Archives. To celebrate, we've created a bilingual (English/Spanish) exhibit featuring a selection of these photographs. Can you recognize your city in the 1980s? 1950s? 1910s? Visit the Santori Library or Eola Road Branch to explore this exhibit in person, and/or visit the following website to view the entire collection virtually here.

120 Years of Neverland

West Branch
Monday, May 1 - Friday, May 31

Enjoy viewing a collection of books, movies, recordings, collectibles, works of art, and more inspired by J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan story over 120 years. (The theatrical play first appeared on the London stage in 1904!) This classic story, like Peter Pan himself, will never grow old, and this exhibit has been brought to our community by Andrea Jones and Sue Reimer.

Wood-Carved Birds

Eola Road Branch Lobby
Monday, May 1 - Friday, May 31

This display of wood-carved birds was created by local artisan Mike Michalek. From Finch to Bluejay, Mike has carved all our Northern Illinois favorites, often using photos printed at the library as models.
