We are no longer accepting design submissions.

APLD welcomed artists of all ages to submit designs for a new library card! The winning design will be featured on a limited-edition APLD library card later this year!

Rules for Entry:

  • Anyone living in the library's service area may enter

  • All ages are eligible

  • One entry allowed per person

  • Please do not include your name in the artwork

  • Each submission must be the creative and original work of a single individual and free of copyright restrictions

All designs must be completed using the template:

  • Words may be incorporated only as graphic elements
  • Artwork can include computer generated or digital submissions or paper submissions using colored pencil, pen, paint, markers, etc..
  • Both horizontal and vertical designs will be considered
  • Designs must incorporate the theme "There's More to the Story". 

As you think about your design and how to incorporate the theme, remember all the great things libraries do and that there's more to APLD's story.

  • APLD is full of stories in a variety of formats.

  • APLD lends items like museum passes, games, musical instruments, and tools.

  • APLD brings Aurora together for entertainment, education, and to connect.

  • APLD advances our community by providing technology access, literacy skills, and support for businesses, job seekers, and entrepreneurs.

Judging & Prizes:

  • Entry deadline April 8, 2023

  • Artwork will be judged based on creativity, design, and how well it portrays the theme.

  • $100 gift card to the winner

  • Winner will be announced after during our First Friday event on May 5, 2023.

Upon submission, entrants grant Aurora Public Library District all rights to the artwork and consents that all artwork may be displayed and/or reproduced without limitation and without compensation. Aurora Public Library District reserves the right to deny entry to any submission deemed inappropriate due to the use of derogatory language or imagery, use of copyrighted materials (including cartoons, excerpts from books, etc.), or entries that do not incorporate the theme. Designs must adhere to the Exhibit and Display Policy. The artwork will be available for public voting on the website and at the library during National Library Week. Library staff, community members, and public vote will determine the final winning design.
